By rendering their request public, the  families of victims of a series of political assassinations committed in fall 1998, solicit the United Nations International Human Rights Commission to examine their case and to lead an inquest on these assassinations. Last Friday, during a memorial ceremony for Parvaneh and Dariush FOROUHAR who were assassinated on November 22nd  1998, the families of victims solemnly asked all people contesting the lamentable course of action taken by the Iranian justice system, all those who refuse the occultation of the truth, to support them by signing this petition.

By signing this document, we declare our support to the legal action taken by the families of victims of serial political assassination.

Request

Four years have past since  Parvaneh and Daruish FOROUHAR, historical figures, freedom activists and defenders of justice and independence, were savagely stabbed. The role this couple has played in the struggle for sovereignty and democracy of our nation has left his mark on the history of Iran.

The assassination of two free spirit writers, Mohammad MOKHTARI and Mohammad-Jafaar POUYANDEH, two days after that of the FOROUHAR couple, turned the november 1998 to the summit of massacre of heterodoxy, leaving deep cicatrices in contemporary history of Iran.

In the hope of shedding light on these dreadful  crimes, as well as the political assassinations that preceded them, Iranian society has courageously and unanimously protested. But despite these persistent protests and despite the request for justice formulated by all organizations, active figures of political, socil and artistical life, revolted by this violence, and despite the continuous efforts of the families and their lawyers, this national challenge has not yet attained its appropriate conclusion, which is of historical importance.

Given that during these four years the people responsible for this case have not answered any of the public demands for elucidating the truth surrounding these crimes and rendering the justice, given that they have not accomplished their legal duties, we solicit the United Nations International Human Rights Commission to examine thiese cases and to lead the inquest into these crimes.
